Before Your First Appointment
Gather your medical records (prior C-section notes, ultrasound reports, MRI if done)
Write down your family-building goals (how many more children do you want?)
Research PAS centers (see our Fertility Preservation page for Tier 1 centers)
Call your insurance to verify coverage at your chosen center
Prepare a list of all medications you are currently taking
Bring a support person to take notes during the appointment
Questions About Your Diagnosis
What grade of PAS do I have? (accreta / increta / percreta)
Where exactly is the placenta invading? Is it above or below the bladder trigone?
What does my ultrasound show? Has a TUPAS score been calculated?
Would MRI provide additional information for surgical planning?
How confident are you in the diagnosis?
Questions About Treatment Options
Am I a candidate for fertility-preserving (conservative) management?
What are the specific risks of uterine preservation vs. hysterectomy in my case?
Does your center have a multidisciplinary PAS team?
How many conservative PAS cases has your team performed? What are your success rates?
What is the realistic probability of preserving my uterus?
If conservative management fails, what is the backup plan?
When is the planned delivery date?
Are there any clinical trials I might be eligible for?
Questions About Future Fertility
If my uterus is preserved, how long should I wait before trying to get pregnant?
What is the risk of PAS recurring in a future pregnancy?
If I need a hysterectomy, can we do egg or embryo freezing beforehand?
Is egg/embryo freezing covered by my insurance? (Ask about Aetna CPB 0327)
What are the risks in a subsequent pregnancy after PAS?
